  • Awel Aman Tawe has suffered a few set backs due to the planning process over the past 10 years, however, this year secured full planning permission for a 4MW community wind farm. Through the dedication of its staff, volunteers and trustees, it has overcome many obstacles to bring the wind farm project to its current stage. This is a £6million project with annual sales of £1million which will have a significant impact on local regeneration. Awel Aman Tawe has also done a lot of valuable work in the community. Through the HEES and Warm Wales schemes it has helped to reduce fuel poverty by helping people on low incomes get roof and cavity wall insulation. Awel Aman Tawe has also helped the local community centres save money on their heating bills and at the same time demonstrated that renewable energy works - by managing and drawing funding from the EST to fit solar hot water panels. Awel Aman Tawe through the Welsh Assembles Dynamo scheme and through its own Re-Think scheme, has done much to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in schools and colleges. Awel Aman Tawe has also promoted renewable energy via its renewable energy trailer - the Educan. .
